Every day is an opportunity to learn something new and exciting. Modern societies have created schools to aid in this learning process. However, the fact that children stay at home most of their lives should be taken as a good avenue to let the child learn more.
This should be the point of agreement between schools and parents who believe in homeschooling. Sure, there are parents who choose homeschooling. There is nothing wrong with that while there is also nothing wrong when you let your child attend a regular school.
So, if a child is attending a regular school, what factors in homeschooling can be adapted to enhance the skills of a child? In this case, involving the parents for the school-homeschool partnership program should be carefully planned before implementation. All parties involved should be comfortable and that clear assessment should be laid down from the beginning.
The goals you set for your homeschool classroom need to be easy to measure. Write down exactly what you want the child to know at the end of each day, week, month and lesson plan. For example, “I would like John to be able to multiply up to ten” is a great short-term goal. “I would like John to know all about World War II” is a long-term goal. Both should come with positive reinforcement when achieved.
Parents acting as teachers need to learn as much as their children while homeschooling. Articles such as this one can help ensure that you are reaching your full potential as an educator. A good education provided by you, a nurturing parent, is the best education.
Teachers should have an open mind about this as well and take the supplemental learning positively. The follow up would now be both at the school and at home so parents and teachers become partners in the molding of the child’s intellectual capacity as well as other aspects of his life.
