Quite sometimes, there are just things I don’t understand. The realities that life is simple, is not a thing you can easily do.
You know that the directions in life, means capable of doing or choosing a life, that will make you happy but at the same time its right.
But the way to a cleaner, simpler and organize life is through 5’s which are to sanitized, sort, systematized, sustain and _____
On the other hand, 5’s as a teacher is like this and more especially on professionalism.
There was this one good and great leader, our late Assistant Division Superintendent of Division of Bataan, she was Mrs. Nelia Nakpil. She tackled the 5 dimensions of being a professional teacher.
The first “s” was specialized knowledge, which means a teacher should be well-versed in every approaches in any subject and most especially in English, Science and Math. There must also be strategies in teaching. In other words, to have this teacher should continue to update and improve its skills.
The second “s” was skills, wherein how knowledge will be applied into actions. It means the content of a subject for a teacher must know how to convey it to pupils. Most likely, the skill of art of questioning. In this way, a teacher must update also its skills.
The third “s” was standard; standard is setting to strived excellence. It means as a teacher, if you only strived about 75% level of mastery, it means not putting much effort to make children tap their excellence. So, as teachers must have a quality of work. Learning to set standards or a good output makes one professional.
The fourth “s” was spirit. It connotes the structures that support teachers. Teachers need bonding, camaraderie and cohesion. It means teachers must be well-supported and needs uplifting and encouraging words to have a spirit to fight for the excellence of work as a teacher.
The fifth “s” was supportive environment. The teacher needs DEPEd office, PRC, macro and micro environment. It means the value of self-worth which recognizes strengths and innate dignity as a human being.
This values freedom and responsibility. As she gave emphasized to this sentence. Self-fulfillment leads to self expression.
