Have you ever imagined what a world without sound would look like? Withouthearing the song, how can you follow its beat and dance to it? Let’s now consider how individuals with hearing loss perceive the melody of their preferred song. The World Health Organization (WHO) defines deaf as anyone who does not have a hearing threshold in both ears of 20 decibels or higher.

Hearing impairments can affect the performance of students in school in many ways. According to Dr. Abeysekere, some effects of hearing loss on students include falling behind in language and speaking, difficulties with acquiring knowledge at school, negatively evaluating oneself, and finding it hard to make friends. However, at Bataan National High School, there is inclusivity in teaching students with special needs. The Special Needs Education (SNED) Club is an organization that aims to promote, enhance, and showcase the talents and skills of students with special needs, which is not limited to hearing-impaired students only.

In summary, inclusive education promotes the equality and accessibility for all students, regardless of their identity. This will be the reason why the world will be a better place for everyone.
