We cannot deny that our country is in the midst of a crisis. Various security and socio-economic difficulties coupled with political nightmares plague our present society. The advent of the new century, the emergence of information technology, the increasing effect of globalization, and the heightened expectations and demands brought about these developments only bring more challenges in the life of every Filipino. Yet, I firmly believe that there is hope for us Filipinos and that in spite of all these, we Filipinos have never been in a better situation to propel our country back to her former dominance in Asia and eventually in the world. How? The biggest source of this hope for our country that will put us in a favorable situation is none other than education. The government is doing all ways and means to elevate and improve the educational system.  Our country is steadily gaining higher grounds in Information Technology (IT) education and training as well as IT services. The K to 12 Program, if continually succeed has helped millions of Filipinos. Poverty has to be alleviated. It can be done by prioritizing programs and services on basic education. Poverty and lack of education almost always go hand and hand. An educational system therefore that will be our country’s hope is one that empowers people, frees them from bondage of ignorance, shields them from oppressors, challenges them to become globally competitive, and above all puts human beings on the topmost priority over machines and profit.
