Being a principal is indeed a demanding  job.  People have lots of expectations  from the school head.  There is a saying that, “ wherever the principal goes, the school follows.” The position as a   school head provides  an enormous opportunity  to influence others .  When used skillfully, that opportunity could promote  quality learning and  help  shape our country’s  future.   The position is certainly  a demanding one.  So many groups and individuals have expectations  as to what the principals should give or achieve .  Here are some of the expectations:• Parents  and  community members  expect  someone  who is public minded  and high principled.  They expect a person  who is open to  outside initiatives  and who will regularly  communicate with them..• Teachers expect their school principal to be  an instructional leader and supporter of curriculum  initiatives.   The principal is expected  by teachers to be  very visible   and active around the school campus.  • Students expect a  sympathetic counselor in their school head.  He/she  is expected  to be the final arbiter on matters of justice , disciple and giving penalties .  Above all, they expect  and  inspirational  model  and charismatic  figurehead.  • Government officials  and senior  officers  expect principal to be  thorough,  reliable, efficient,  and capable of implementing  and monitoring  departmental policies. Different groups  expect different things  as they have different  needs and  come from many perspectives .  Regardless of whether is one is a teacher, student, parent or community stakeholder, a common expectation is  the school head demonstrate leadership.  One big expectation is to provide  quality education because it is the core task or business of the school.  A key task for principals is to create  collective expectation  among teachers concerning student performance.  The instructional leadership of the  principal is a critical factor  in the success of a  school’s  improvement initiatives  and the overall effectiveness of the school.  The primary responsibility of the principal is to promote  the learning and success of all students  School principals can accomplish  this goal by focusing  on learning, encouraging  collaboration, providing support assessment and instruction.
