Every child wants to start the new school year looking their best. Many parents and even children, particularly boys believe that a new hair symbolizes a new start and new possibilities of having a good beginning of showing their confidence. However, some of the low-income children couldn’t afford to pay hair-cut services.

With this, Cataning Elementary School in coordination with the Barangay Officials and RHU 1 launched an Oplan Gupit-Gwapito at the school covered court last June 7, 2019 where in it was a teaming up with the barbers. The free back-to-school haircuts were done the whole day to the fact that more boys were encouraged to trim their hair because of the nice hair cut done to the children who joined first with the program. Approximately more than 70 boys have received free haircuts through this program.

Dr. Ma. Elena V. Medina, a school principal acknowledged the Barangay Captain of San Jose, Hon. Ronaldo P. Sanglang and the RHU 1 headed by Mrs. Merlie Mausisa for granting her request and for having such kind of program in school wherein every child really needs it in order to start the new year with confidence.
