What is COVID-19? COVID-19 is an acronym for Corona Virus Disease 2019. Kind of disease that affects our respiratory system. It was first identified in December 2019 in Wuhan, China and eventually spread all over the world. Its common symptoms include fever, cough, fatigue, colds, shortness of breath and loss of smell and taste. According to World Health Organization or WHO, on January 30,2020 the Philippine’s Department of Health (DOH) reported the first case of COVID-19 in the country with a 38-year-old female Chinese National. On March 7, the first local transmission of COVID-19 was confirmed until it spreads all over major cities and provinces in the Philippines.

Currently the whole world specifically Philippines is experiencing the devastating effect of this pandemic. Businesses who are well established and operating for many years were forced to closed in just a span of three months and as an effect millions of people losses their jobs. All kinds of sports, events and especially school activities have been cancelled. The lives of children were completely changed since the schools were closed. Before they spent most of their days in schools with their classmates and friends, but now they cannot go outside of their houses. No more physical activities were held because of quarantines. Everything has been transported to live chats and video calls. Everyone is pointing fingers on what the government and the people should and should not do. We are now facing the new normal nobody saw it coming.

It is truly COVID-19 shocks the whole world not because of the disease but we are not prepared for it. Even the most powerful and rich countries like USA, Italy, Germany, Spain etc. cannot contain the spread of the virus and the effect in the economy and the daily lives of the people in the whole world.

In the lighter note COVID-19 surely changed us for being a better person. We see life now as a blessing. We suddenly notice and appreciate everything that we ignored before like our relationship with our love ones. We see now that health is more important than the things we buy or simple as “health is wealth”. Covid-19 changed our perspective in life. We realized that life is temporary and can be cruel. But I personally believe that because of this, we are now one or two steps closer to God. We can now face this fight with stronger mind, stronger body and especially stronger faith.
