The importance of instructional planning

Instructional planning is not just about planning in-class lessons; it includes a design of the entire course – the instruction and practice that every learner needs to provide, the task that can be done by the students in and out of class, and the blueprint for how it all fits together. The planning of instruction is the link between learning outputs and assessment of learning, which makes it an integral part of course alignment.

Moreover, the goal of education provides a sense of mission and purpose. Teachers must be aware of what area should be taught to inspire and motivate learners on how to become actively engaged in and committed to the learning process. Hence, educators must know how to select systematically their educational goals and specific objectives as well as the classroom design that can be utilized in teaching. Instructional planning is important to ensure that the designed lesson plan has a comprehensive approach to meet the curriculum objectives of the lesson. Additionally, if teachers are prepared particularly with the learning materials needed in teaching, it can boost their confidence to impart learning upon the students. A well-planned instruction can maximize academic learning time and can actively engage the students in various and meaningful activities.

Precise instructional planning will support students as they obtain the knowledge, skills and attitudes expressed in your learning consequences, while your assessments will help demonstrate what they have learned successfully and potentially how well they have mastered it.
