The Orion RHU Birth Station located in Brgy. Wawa opened its doors to low risk expectant mothers on August 5, 2013. On the same date, 2 pregnant women and their newborn were already accommodated. Though not yet blessed, it accepted pregnant women due for delivery on succeeding days.
Finally, on August 17, 2013 at 8:00 AM, Orion RHU Birth Station was blessed. This was officiated by Rev. Fr. Edilbert S. Pomer. The occasion was doubly exciting because no less than the Regional Director of CHD 3, Dr. Leonita P. Gorgolon was on hand to grace the event. She also led the ceremonial turn-over of the birth facility to the local government and she expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome of the community to her group. Seeing the local executive’s and legislative’s presence during the event, she is hopeful and optimistic that the facility will function as to its intent and purpose and asked for continuous support of all the Department of Health’s programs. Hon. Mayor Antonio L. Raymundo, Jr. was happy to receive the ceremonial key and he vowed to revitalize and expand the health services to the community. He asked all the stakeholders to help in the administration’s efforts in giving quality health care.
The presence of SP Member, Hon. Jovy Z. Banzon and his commitment to the cause of health also gave another reason for the people of Orion to celebrate. Dr. Roberto Luneta from the Provincial Health Team Office and his staff, and Dr. Rosanna M. Buccahan, OIC-Provincial Health Officer, the Municipal Health Office Staff, officers and members of the Barangay Health Workers Association of Orion, RNHeals and employees of the municipality also participated in the event.
