BIOMETRICS……… A sense of truth ,security and responsibility

 

Biometric provides the latest non – intrusive security solutions.  These technologies can be used separately or together in one powerful package to meet your entire authentication and identification need.  It is an automated methods  of recognizing a person based on a physiological or behavioural characteristic.  Among the feature measured are face, fingerprints, hand geometry, handwriting, iris, retinal, vein and voice.  These are now becoming the foundation of an extensive array of highly secure identification and personal verification solution.  As the level of security breaches and transaction fraud increases, the need for highly secure identification and personal verification technologies is becoming apparent.

 

Nowadays, biometric technology is the forefront of governmental initiation to make administration strong and more efficient.  It aims to improve punctuality and enhance safety measures.  It has been mandated that all teaching and non – staff even the newly hired personnel should enrol to this new system.

 

The advantages of biometrics are the person is the key so you don’t need to remember your card or  key again.  It uses your unique identity to enable a purchase, activate something or unlock something.  Also, it encompasses voice, veins, eye, fingerprint, facial recognition and more.  Obviously, if there is a new system or technology which you are not used to do oftentimes, these are more likely have a negative effect or disadvantages.  Biometrics requires a lot of data to be kept on a person.  These systems are not always reliable as human beings change over the time if you are ill, eyes puffy, voice hoarse or your fingers are rough from labouring.  Lastly, is the expense and technical complexity of such system.
