- It’s easier to get easier- Start off the year with tighten classroom management and discipline techniques so you wont give students a precedent that you allow a lot of disruptions in your class.
- Fairness is key-Never play favorites. Students, no matter how young, you know if you are fair with your rules.
- Deal with disruptions with as little disruptions as possible-Do not let minor disruptions ruin the momentum of the entire class.
- Avoid confrontation in front of the students-It is best to avoid dealing with discipline issues in front of the class.
- Stop disruptions with a little humor-A good laugh can get things back on track.
- Keep high expectations in your class- Send a message to your students that you expect a lot from them.
- Overplan-Avoid giving too much free time in class.
- Be consistent-Students will lose respect for you if you are not the same person everyday.
- Make rules understandable-Students can only appreciate your rules if they are given the chance to understand them.
Start Fresh Everyday-never treat students based on previous infractions. Start the day treating each child with objectivity and open-mindedness.
