Numerous challenges are obstructing a student to absorb the knowledge that he is supposed to digest in order to learn and grow as an individual human being.
Some of these challenges are financial problems that causes food shortage and eventually resulting into students’ poor thinking. Other problems are lack in educational resources such as classrooms and books, insufficient intellect of a teacher, and unhealthy study habits.
Because of these circumstances, the student is being stocked on a scenario that could hinder him from achieving his goals, a scenario of a mediocre student.
How can a student showcase his strength and capabilities if he remains mediocre?
As teachers, we have the power to give the drive that the students need in order for them to unleash their skills. We must always boost their morale for them to feel that they can be ‘someone’ and not just a ‘somebody’.
Everyone has a God-given forte, so as the students’ mentors, we must be sensitive enough to appreciate the ability of a child and lift his spirit to break mediocrity for him to have a stand that he’s not just an average person.
If the student gained his confidence by knowing that he has something special in himself, it would be an outlet for him to have an improved state of thinking. Through this, learning will be much easier for the student because he already asserted himself as an intellectual person.
It’s not easy to break the barrier from being on the average level into the state of being exceptional, but if the student is really determined to overcome the fears and doubt in himself, he could always find a way to be better.
Learning is a continuous process, so there’s no chance for a person to be a mediocre for the rest of his life, unless he would not defy it.
