Tropical storm “Sendong” has caused massive devastation on properties and loss of lives in Cagayan de Oro City and Iligan City. Reports from the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) reveal that hundreds have lost their lives, an even greater number of victims are missing, and thousands of families have been displaced including students and teachers.
In this connection, the DepEd Central Office launched a donation campaign for typhoon victims. Donations was in the form of cash or in-kind such as clothings, blankets, mats, cooking paraphernalia, mineral water and biscuits.
Cash donations are purely voluntary. They were advised to deposit their total collections at the OSEC trust account. While the in-kind donations from Luzon regions were endorsed at the DepEd Central Office through Engr. Oliver Hernandez, OIC DRRMO.
Furthermore, the donations came from Visayas and Mindanao was endorsed directly to the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (RDRRMC) Region X.
