It is important that high school students be given encouragement to plan for their career—even before they graduate in high school. Planning ahead allow students to set for themselves and to strategize and prepare on how to achieve them. A career plan may be likened to a road map; it shows people the paths they need to take in order to arrive at their destination in their journey to the Great Unknown.
Planning the path to take, involves one’s interests, skills and values. These are important factors to consider in choosing a satisfying career. A person’s career is what he will be doing for his future, so it is significant that a person enjoys what he or she does for a living. It is also beneficial for the person to be able to maximize his special skills and to apply them in the workplace. It is equally important to consider one’s values in career planning. Career fulfillment comes from the ability to do work that promotes one’s values in life.
