Because teachers are placed in high regard, we hesitantly talk about the problem of ineffectiveness. We have to accept the reality that some teachers come ineffective at educating our students. This does not mean that they do not have the characteristics to be a competent teacher. In fact, they possess technical qualifications like college degrees, post graduate degrees, work experiences and the license for teaching. There are only some factors which make them unproductive. One instance is teachers are not given the workloads which match their educational background. An example of this is an instructor who has a degree in Physics but is teaching Filipino. Not having the adequate skills and related experience make him inefficient. There are those who are not adept at teaching. They may be technically qualified but do not have the skills to impart ideas. These are the teachers who do not know how to communicate or share the knowledge they have. Theyare not good in expounding their topics. It is hard for them to cite examples and come up with appropriate analogies suited to the learners’ level.Sadly, some become ineffective because they are driven by their own desires and needs, not by their students. They have to finish his teaching for the day. They forget that they have students who have to finish their learning for the day. They rush through the lessons because they have been busy at feeding their weal. Their work is complete when they have rattled what they have prepared to teach and do not know or care to know if their students have learnt at all.It is about time for us to act and solve this problem. Let us help these teachers to be effective by setting things in the right position. We need better teachers who have the power to influence and to enrich with the full range of student abilities regardless of their academic diversity. They, along with parents, are responsible in shaping the minds of students. They are essential in raising the quality of education in our country. If education is the key, they are the key makers which are greatly needed to realize what education can give to the future of an individual and his society.
