The present government led by President Noynoy Aquino through the Department of Education spearheaded by Secretary Armin Luistro  introduced a better program for achieving a better quality of education in the Philippines and this is the so called K + 12 Program.

K + 12 is a world standard for the implementation of education in our country.  It requires a compulsory Kindergarten for the beginners at least five years of age.  This will set the foundation of the child before going to the other stairs of education.

Then the learner will proceed to the usual six years of elementary education.  The instructions in this level will be more improved and enhanced to suit the learners’ needs.   In addition, innovative trends will be implemented to secure better quality of education.

The next step of course is the secondary education.  It is composed of the four years in regular high school but two years will be added.  Having two more years will provide the youth with more skills and preparations before choosing a college course.

This global or international standard of educational system will lead the young people to a better pace in education since they will be more equipped with the challenges of the real world.

The Philippines is one of the very few countries that have not yet applied this program. But now it’s about time.  Many progressive nations in the world have already acquired 12 years of basic education that is why their citizens are well-equipped with the fundamentals of education.

K + 12 Program is here for the betterment or welfare of the learners.
