Recent data shows how much Revenue that was added in our country’s coffin by our overseas Filipino workers. We are now next to China in terms of dollar inflow by these overseas workers. Indeed they are the modern day hero!
Presently, we are already in the second year of implementing the new Basic Education Curriculum known as the new K+12 program. Within the program is the additional( 2 )two years in the secondary level.
The government is hoping that thru this program, we can be of equal among our neighboring countries in terms of education and thereby compete globally. That thru this program, Filipino student can acquire enough knowledge and skills to become globally competitive.
The objective is noble and good enough , but on a deeper analysis and on a nationalistic point of view, K+ 12 is for whom? Are our objectives are for the real upliftment of our countrymen? Or are we preparing our students for the interest of others? Whichever it may be, As a Filipino, and as a teacher, I pray to God that this K 12 shall serve our country’s best interest.
