ORION, Bataan – The municipal government of Orion through the Sangguniang Bayan passed an ordinance authorizing Mayor Antonio Raymundo Jr. to enter into a deal to purchase a parcel of land for the resettlement of 1,089 residents of Sitio Depensa, Barangay Capunitan who were displaced by the fire last February.
The Orion ordinance was already forwarded to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for review.

The land purchase was initiated by the municipal government to give credence to the continuing effort in the implementation of the writ of mandamus for Manila Bay Clean-up and rehabilitation to be financed by the provincial government of Bataan.

The fire victims are temporarily sheltered at the Bataan School of Fisheries also in Orion through the assistance of Department of Social Welfare and Development.
Earlier, the Bataan Gov. Abet Garcia released P10 million for the families of fire victims; the Balanga city government gave P500,000; and Congresswoman Geraldine Roman, P100,000.
Mayor Raymundo earlier announced the National Housing Authority is planning to put up more or less P1 billion worth of low-cost but decent housing project in nearby Barangay Daan Pare.
“The only problem now is how long will it take for the construction of such housing project,” said Raymundo. He said the fire victims’ immediate need is a temporary relocation site.
