Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) launched its educational assistance program following the President’s Labor Day announcement on the availability of a joint Ph11.2 billion Educational Assistance Fund from SSS and GSIS.

On the said program, all active members regardless of salary, length of service, and status of agency member accounts are entitled to avail the said educational assistance with the amount of P 4, 000.00.

Last May 05, 2012, State pension fund President and General Manager Robert G Vergara announced that the GSIS educational assistance program will run until December 28, 2012 to help members shoulder the education expenses of their children up to the second semester of the school year.

The said amount is payable in five years, at six percent interest rate.

The first payment of the loan will start three months after the grant.

Also, the amount will receive full by the members because no service fee will be charge.

Ella B. Nacorda, an Araling Panlipunan Second Year teacher of Orion National High School avails the said program. She said that it will help her for her tuition fee this coming semester where she is now on her Masteral Degree at Virgin Delos Remedios College at Olongapo City.

Aside from Nacorda, there are other public secondary and elementary teachers who are applying on the said program.
