Image In addition to the efforts undertaken by the Municipality of Orion in pursuing its plan of full computerization of the local government system, initially through eRPTS, eBPLS, CRIS,eNGAS, and CBMS, this time MHO gears-up for the implementation of the Community Health Information Tracking System (CHITS).

In preparation for the CHITS, selected health personnel was subjected to a series of Computer Literacy Training, a project collaborated by Mr. Leo Allan Renton of the Municipal Information System (MIO) and En.P. Andy Avorque of the Municipal Planning & Development Office (MPDO).

Last July 2, 2008, no less than the ever-supportive local chief executive, Mayor Antonio L. Raymundo,Jr.,  headed the project team composed of Mr. Renton,(MIO), Mr. Avorque (MPDO), Dr. Corazon Cruz (MHO), Ms. Nelina Navarro (Nurse II) and Ms. Lorena  Dizon (Midwife II) participated in the “Capability Building on Health Management Using Community Health Information Tracking System (CHITS)” seminar conducted by the National Telehealth Center at UP-PGH Manila.

Dr. Alvin Marcelo, Director of the National Telehealth Center articulated on the overview and orientation on CHITS followed by the hands-on training on the new computer system.

With the CHITS, Mayor Raymundo expect a tremendous improvement in the delivery of basic health services, as this will facilitate accurate gathering, reporting and analyzing of health data which is very crucial in making appropriate health plan for the entire municipality.  The good mayor immediately ordered for the procurement of additional PCs and training of the remaining health personnel to facilitate the smooth implementation the said system.

According to Dr. Marcelo, with the eagerness and enthusiasm shown by Mayor Raymundo and the rest of his staff on the project, no doubt that Orion will be the first to successfully implement the CHITS in Central Luzon. (
