Orion’s Peace and Order Council (OPOC) has been adjudged as the Best Peace and Order Council, 1st to 3rd class municipality category in Region III, by the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Regional Peace and Order Council 3 chaired by San Fernando City  Mayor Hon. Oscar S. Rodriguez.

In a simple awarding ceremony held July 14, 2008, Mayor Tony Pep Raymundo together with Vice-Mayor Virgilio Isidro and members of the Orion Peace and Order Council personally received the award from NAPOLCOM OIC-Regional Director.

Peace and Order Councils were created through Executive Order No. 309 to implement and execute national policies, plans and programs on peace and order; develop and implement a well-coordinated program of action such as the Integrated Area/Community Public Safety Plan (IA/CPSP); monitor and evaluate all governmental peace and order programs and projects in the locale; and conduct studies and researches to identify and address the problems on criminality, rebellion, insurgency and other forms of public disorder.

ImageWe are happy that the National Police Commission no less is recognizing the efforts of the Local Peace and Order Council.  This group has worked so hard and has encouraged the participation of the private sector, Mayor Antonio L. Raymundo, Jr. said.  He feels that this recognition is going to be an inspiration to all the other private groups that are also involved in different initiatives and bodies that were created precisely to combine forces with the municipal government.

With this recognition, Orion qualifies for the National Search, awarding of winners of which is held in Malacanang.  Let us prepare more and keep our finger cross that National Level Evaluation Team will notice our efforts. (EnP. Andy R. Avorque, MPDO)
