Evaluating the performance of pupils is an important part of teaching-learning process, that’s why all teachers must be knowledgeable enough and must be competent in evaluating his individual learners. Its primary objective is to improve the performance of each learner, thus, the teacher needs to carefully analyze the result of evaluation and it must be the basis in choosing the right teaching methods in his lessons.
To make evaluation process effective, a teacher must understand the effective use of reliable and valid instruments of evaluating the outcome of learning and diagnosing learning difficulties of each pupil as well. This means that every teacher considers the facts and concepts concerning the measurement and evaluation of pupil’s performance. If a teacher fails in evaluating and measuring the performance of his pupils, he fails in helping his learners to perform well in his class.
