The primary concern of Filipino parents is giving proper education to their children whatever their station in life. They will do everything at their best to earn just to send their children to school.

The government provides the best possible education to its citizens. Article 15, Section 1 of the Constitution provides that The State shall protect and promote the right of all citizens to quality education at all levels and shall take appropriate steps to make such education accessible to all.

Filipino parents put so much value on education that in remote village in the archipelago, it is not uncommon to see school-children hiking across hills and valleys for hours just to attend their classes in barangays where there are public schools. Even in areas where there are sporadic armed conflicts, students risk life and limb just to get education.

Almost 21 million elementary and high school students and 2.5 million college students in both private and public schools all over the country “bum their eyebrows”, so to speak, to boost our literary rate further.
