Discipline is the process of teaching children to behave appropriately in different circumstances. It is a vital factor in shaping one’s personality. It is inculcated in the pupils not as an imposition but as a normal growth under the process of training in self-discipline and self-help through every activity.
Here are some tips for classroom discipline; start and set the school year in discipline plan; act fairly for all your learners if you expect to be respected; when you have classroom disruptions, it is imperative that you deal with them immediately and with as little interruption of your class momentum as possible; avoid confrontations in front of learners, you need to keep order and discipline in your class; expect that your students will behave, not that they will disrupt, tell your students your expectations; be consistent, one of the worst things you can do as a teacher is to not enforce your rules consistently; make rules understandable, you need to be selective in your class rules, you also need to make them clear. Learners should understand what is and what is not acceptable; and lastly, start fresh every day, it does mean that you should start teaching your class each day with the expectation that students will behave.
