“It was a rousing success!” exclaimed Mayor Tony Pep L. Raymundo, Jr. of Orion when asked about their recent trip to Korea last January 17-20, 2007. It’s really very inspiring to open up 2007 with this, he added.

The trip was described as friendship benchmarking cum investment mission, which was made possible by Pastor Hyun CHUL Kim, President of the KoreanBaptist Church of the Philippines. If friendship is to be benchmark by development commitment among parties in the trip to Korea, the mission has passed it with flying colors. For one, a commitment to consider Bataan for bio-diesel technology was made. Another is that the province particularly Orion is being look into for the establishment of a call center.

The delegation was composed of Congressman Albert S. Garcia, Usec. Ernie A.Mendoza II of the Office of the President, the PEZA Bataan Administrator Atty. Dante M. Quindoza, Mayor Rolly Tigas of Samal, Mayor Tony Pep Raymundo and Provincial Engineer Enrico Yuzon, to name a few.

The itinerary includes a trip to the car manufacturing giant Hyundai Motor, a Bio-fuel Company, the said Silicon Valley of Korea, the Daedeok Innopolis. The delegation also visited the Jun-Buk Provincial Office to learn more on local governance. On the last day of the trip, they visited world electronic leaders Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics at Gumi City.

On the part of the delegation Congressman Abet Garcia presented a video of the profile and investment opportunities in Bataan. Mayor Tony Pep on his part has prepared a short PowerPoint presentation on business opportunities in Orion as well as the Orion investment Guide.

With this development Orion can look forward at a brighter prospect in terms of investment which will eventually create job and business opportunities for people not only of Orion but the entire Bataan as well.
